Honoring the Athletes

Calhoun Middle School athletes were recognized last night during the annual Middle School Sports Banquet.

Former Calhoun Red Devil football star David Hathaway, class of 1959, served as MC for the evening. Hathaway held the all-time football scoring record until 1984, when Tracy Haught established a new record.

Irona Yeager, president of the Middle School Boosters, expressed appreciation to the team's sponsors this past year.

The teams, players, coaches and parents enjoyed a dinner prior to the program.

In 2006-07 the boosters raised over $40,000.

"The funds enable the purchase of uniforms, new wrestling mats and other equipment," Yeager said, "We encourage all parents to assist in continuing the tradition of having exemplary Calhoun Middle sports."
