PRAYERS LIFTED AT GRANTSVILLE EVENT

(05/04/2007)

Prayers lifted during National Day of Prayer

The National Day of Prayer service was held yesterday at the Calhoun Courthouse, organized by the Chaplain's of Minnie Hamilton Health Care System.

Prayers were lifted for the county, state and nation.

The money donated for food served at the event is supporting the Community Food Pantry housed in the First Baptist Church.

In 1952, a joint resolution by Congress signed by President Truman declared an annual National Day of Prayer. In 1988, the law was amended and signed by President Reagan permanently setting National Day of Prayer as the first Thursday of every May.

MHHS Chaplain's Association want to thank everyone who helped make National Day of Prayer such a successful, fun and meaningful event. We raised $731.17, the most that we have ever raised for the Community Food Pantry housed at the First Baptist Church. And many were present for the prayer service. This event would not be possible without the generous help of so many people in our community.
