SPRINGSTON SENT TO PRISON FOR DUI DEATH

Greg Russell Springston, 26, of Roane County, was sentenced one to ten years in the state penitentiary and fined $1000 for DUI causing death.

He was sentenced by Judge Thomas Evans III during a session of Calhoun Circuit Court.

Springston's sentencing is related to the death of a Spencer man who was killed in a collision in which Springston was a driver of the other vehicle.

The fatal accident happened at Letherbark, in February 2005. Thomas Waggoner, 23, the driver of an Olds 88, died at the scene shortly after the crash.

Other court action:

- Travis Sampson was sentenced on a breaking and entering charge to six months in the Anthony Center, with additional probationary measures.

- Dennis Sears was placed on three years probation and 100 hours of community service related to a drug charge.

- Cecil Pomeroy was given three years probation and fined $1000 on a drug charge.
