Hoyt Randolph Umstead, 84 - British Columbia

Hoyt Randolph Umstead, 84, of Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, died Sunday, April 1, 2007, at his home.

He was the son of the late Frances and Ivan Herman Umstead. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the South Pacific and was past commander of VFW, Circleville. He received A.B. degrees from Glenville State College, Marshall University and West Virginia University. He was a retired educator, having taught in the Department of Defense school system in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and Bitburg and Kaiserslautern, Germany.

He was on the staff at Calhoun County High School in the mid-1960s. He was past president of Sons of American Revolution, de Soto Chapter, and NARFE Chapter, both of Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Surviving are his wife, Josette Passague Umstead, and one brother, John Phillip Umstead of Pahrump, Nevada.

Memorial service will be held at Tabernacle Church, Kelowna, with cremation to follow. Burial will be held in May at Grantsville.
