A Spencer man previously convicted in the shooting death of his ex-wife has now been arrested on drug charges.

Joseph E. Kelly Jr., 34, and his stepfather, Ralph "Huck" Wilson, 52, both of Arnoldsburg, were arrested Friday by the Parkersburg Violent Crimes and Narcotics Task Force. The men were arrested in Wood County after they allegedly purchased materials used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Police said the men were linked to the purchase of "thousands" of cold tablets that can be used to make meth.

Police said two women with the men were not charged.

Late Friday night police from several counties executed a search warrant at Wilson's residence on Jesse's Run, in the Liberty Hill area of Calhoun County.

Police allegedly found several items used to make meth, and a meth lab in a cellar house in back of the residence.

Following their arrest Friday both men were lodged in the North Central Regional Jail in lieu of $15,000 bond. Authorities said additional charges might be filed in connection with the case.

In January 2004 Kelly was charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of his ex-wife, Patricia Kelly, at the mobile home they shared in Spencer. The couple's 11-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter were in the home at the time.
