YOUNG PEOPLE COULD GET BREAK ON PARENT'S INSURANCE

(04/02/2007)
Thousands of young West Virginia adults who face the loss of health coverage could get a break with their parent's health insurance.

A bill that passed the state Legislature this year would allow children to remain covered by their parents' insurance until they turn 25.

It could mean that about 20,000 West Virginians could be eligible, if Governor Manchin signs the bill.

Most young adults lose coverage through their parents at 19 or when they graduate from high school or college.

Manchin has said he likes the bill's philosophy, but he says he must weigh its potential costs before signing.
