APPALACHIAN CLASSIC WILL HAVE FREE ENTERTAINMENT

(06/07/2007)
The 11th Annual Appalachian Classic will welcome the return of musical entertainment on Saturday night, June 16.

This year the entertainment will consist of local musicians - bluegrass and otherwise - and will be free to the public.

"We'll gladly take contributions," said race director Gaylen Duskey. "We may even pass around the hat. But it is free and we hope that many of our local people will come out and enjoy it."

Duskey also said that a 50-50 event is planned. Food and beverages will be available during the day.

The current schedule calls for a 5K Run-Walk on Saturday, starting at 10 a.m., with other events planned for the rest of the day including the popular pond jump.

All riders in the pond jump will have to sign a release of liability, Duskey said, with no exceptions.

Sunday, June 17 will feature the mountain bike racing part of the weekend. Racing will get under way at noon.

Duskey also said that anyone wishing to volunteer should contact him at 304-354-7227 or via e-mail at realfang@citlink.net
