"HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT" FOR CALHOUN BAND

(03/29/2007)

The Calhoun County High School Band traveled to Blennerhassett Junior High School Wednesday to participate in the WVSSAC Ratings Festival.

Participation is required of all Middle and High School Bands in the state of West Virginia.

The band is judged by a panel of three individuals who issue ratings from 1-5, one being the best and five the worst.

Bands play music chosen from a list of acceptable music. This year, Calhoun received two 2's and a one for an overall rating of a 2.

"This is a huge accomplishment for the Calhoun Band," said director Bridget Bowen.

"We are just ecstatic...They have worked very hard to learn their music and perfect it. The band students are to be commended for their hard work," said Bowen.

Bowen thanked the parents and Mrs. Faye Chambers, who also played a big part in the accomplishment.
