CALHOUN MAN ARRESTED FOR WANTON ENDANGERMENT AFTER GUNFIRE

(03/13/2007)
State Police arrested a Big Springs man yesterday for wanton endangerment, brandishing and possession of a firearm by a felon, after he reportedly fired a .22 caliber rifle four times at individuals near the Calhoun-Gilmer line on Trace Fork Road.

Gary Paul Ferrell, 48 (left) is in Central Regional Jail, after Gilmer officer Sr. Trooper R. P. Smith responded to a 911 call made by Ferrell's girlfriend, Kathy Parsons.

Parsons original complaint indicated that Ferrell had taken her car keys, but later when Parson' parents entered a hollow near the Bill Davis farm, Ferrell allegedly fired four times at Holly "Bud" and Betty Jo Parsons.

Betty Parsons indicated to authorities that Ferrell was yelling and screaming from a front porch when he fired the gun, according to the police report.
