(03/06/2007)
The state Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the death of a Calhoun man, who reportedly died when a fire erupted at the Babcock Lumber Yard in Glenville yesterday afternoon.

Sixty-five-year-old Gary Roberts of Millstone was reportedly in the company yard at the site of the fire.

Local emergency services responded to the scene about 4:30 p.m., making attempts to revive Roberts, who reportedly received burns to his body.

He was taken to Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, where he was pronounced dead. His body was taken to the State Medical Examiner's office.

Roberts, a well-known Calhoun resident, had retired earlier from the local telephone company and then went back to work at the Glenville truss plant.

Funeral arrangements will be completed at the Stump Funeral Home.
