A fire destroyed the residence of Everett and Alma Doolitlle Tuesday morning on Annamoriah Creek. Neighbors indicated the fire smoldered for a considerable time inside the house, before it was discovered.

The Doolittles were in Parkersburg at a doctor's appointment. They lost everything.

Firemen kept the blaze under control, but when the structure ventilated, flames and smoke erupted.

Firemen drafted water from the creek and shuttled tankers for more water to put on the blaze.

The Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department dispatched three trucks to the fire at 8:12 a.m., with mutual aid being provided by the Elizabeth-Wirt VFD.

The residence is located about three miles off State Rt. 16 on Annamoriah Creek, the Hur-Joker Road.
