WVIAC TOURNEY PAIRINGS & GAME DATES ANNOUNCED

(02/27/2007)
Pairings have been announced for the WVIAC Tournament in Charleston at the Charleston Civics Center. Glenville's Lady Pioneers (ranked #1) and the University of Charleston (ranked #2) both received "buys" in the first round.

First rounds of the women's tournament begins tonight at various campus locations. The men start play Tuesday seeing Glenville (#13) playing Concord (#4) away.

The Lady Pioneers are scheduled to begin quarterfinal play Wednesday, February 28 at 6:30 p.m. Undefeated in the conference, and top seed entering the tournament, Glenville (18-0 in the conference) will face either ninth ranked West Virginia Wesleyan (9-9) or eighth ranked Salem International (10-8).

During regular season play the Lady Pioneers' first tangled with Wesleyan January 8 in Buckhannon winning by a 30-point margin 83-53.

The Lady Pioneers hit the road to take on Salem International on February 3, the two teams only game of the season. Salem fell by a 84-60 margin.

The Wesleyan re-match, February 8, at home gave Glenville an 85-71 edge.

Should Glenville advance to the semi-finals Friday, that game begins at 3:00 p.m. And the semi-final winners will decide the championship at the Civics Center at 6:00 p.m. Saturday.

Still to be announced are the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament dates. Lady Pioneer head coach Steve Harold is optimistic those games will be held in Glenville as early as the second week of March. The NCAA is expected to announce its decision soon.

The following are the men and women's pairings, based on regular season finish.
