Vera G. "Gertie" Perkins, 85 of Chole, WV, died Thursday, August 23, in Hospice Care Center of Akron, Ohio.

Born in Calhoun County, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Maud Boone Metz. She was a homemaker and a Protestant.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Carter of Canton, Ohio; three sons and daughters in law, Mike and Nancy Perkins, David and Dorothy Perkins all of Barberton, Ohio and Richard and Glenna Perkins of Chloe; three sisters, Inez Carr of Millstone, WV, Emma Siers of Creston, Ohio and Irene Wayne of Spencer, WV; two brothers, Martin Metz, Jr. of Orma, WV and Frank Metz of Minnora, WV; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Perkins; three brothers, Thurl, Clell and Bruce Metz; two sisters, Anna Miller Longfellow and Pauline Farrar and an infant grandson.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Reverend John Powell will officiate. Interment will be in the Minnora Cemetery, Minnora, WV. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Sunday. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to Hospice Care Center - 3358 Richwood Road - Akron, Ohio 44333
