CGCC WILL OFFER THREE ADULT CLASSES

Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center plans to offer three different classes in March and April for adults.

These classes will be advanced woodworking, Microsoft Office, and "Save Our Streams." The cost will vary according to enrollment and activity. For more information or to pre-register you may call 354-6151.

Advanced Woodworking

Are you interested in taking an advanced woodworking class at the Career Center from 6-9 p.m. on Thursdays beginning March 1. Fee. $60.

Microsoft Office

This six weeks night class will allow the students to learn the basics for Microsoft Office. Students will gain knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Power Point, Microsoft Access and Microsoft and Microsoft Excel. Class will run 6:00 -9:00 p.m. on Thursdays beginning March 1. Fee is $60.

WV "Save Our Streams"

Participants will be shown how to monitor the quality of the water in the Little Kanawha River. The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protections sponsors the WV "Save Our Streams Program". Upon completing the class, students will become certified as WV stream monitors. The cost is $30. The class will run 6 weeks, beginning March 15.

Upon completion of the class members will be eligible to apply for a $5,000 "Stream Partners" seed grant, test your own drinking water and begin the Water Quality I, State Water Testing Program. The class is designed for retirees - interested in improving the quality of our watershed;, college biology students (can be used as a field project for Biology I and II; Science Teachers/Aids (Globe Training); and home owners with well water or farm water needs. (Water Certification - is also available on an individual basis).
