PSC WILL HEAR CLAY RESIDENTS COMPLAINTS - Customers Have Been Without Heat

(02/12/2007)
Today, Clay County schools are closing early because of low gas pressure.

The Public Service Commission is looking at problems with natural gas service in Clay County.

The PSC has scheduled a hearing at the Clay County Courthouse on February 20th to hear complaints against Wagner Gas. Wagner has about 125 customers in Ivydale.

PSC Consumer Advocate Division chief Billy Jack Gregg says there have been long-standing problems with Wagner Gas' service, one of several companies owned by John Habjan. Habjan's outfits have a lengthy history of consumer problems.

Gregg says the PSC could order Wagner Gas owner Habjan to do remedial work on the company's system or have another company or public utility take over the service.

Clay County commissioner Fran King has been angered over elderly people and children getting cold during the winter blitz, indicating the PSC has been saying they will do something for years, but have failed to do so.
