CGCC ACTIVITIES THURSDAY - Conferences, Improvement Council & Sophomore Night

Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center will be having the Parent Teacher Conferences 4 to 7 p.m.; CGCC School Improvement Council Meeting at 5:30 p.m.; and Sophomore Night Activities from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m on Thursday March 1, 2007.

The Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center invites sophomore students and their parents from Calhoun County Middle-High School and Gilmer County High School to "Sophomore Night at the Center" On Thursday, March 1 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Sophomore Night is being held to allow the sophomore students and their parents an opportunity to view the labs that the student may be interested in attending next year.

Parents will also be given an opportunity to tour the labs with their child and to ask instructors questions about the program area.

The students and parents will have an opportunity to talk to a former graduate and/or professional, who is employed in an occupation related to the career and technical program area.

Several Community and Technical College representatives, as well as 4 year College and University representatives have been invited to attend and participate in the evening activities. A representative from Glenville State College will be available to discuss financial aid.

Students may earn college credits through many of the Career Center programs at no cost to the student. They may do this one of two ways. EDGE (Earn a Degree, Graduate Early) credits may be earned in several program areas. Students may also earn credits through articulation agreements with a wide variety of colleges.

An outline of the Sophomore Night at the Center:

6:30 - 7:00 - Registration, Power Point Presentation and Refreshments
7:00 - Orientation and Introductions
7:20 - Lab Tours/College Presentations
7:55 - Lab Tours/College Presentations
8:20 - Wrap Up and Door Prizes

Door prizes include a color television, 4-$25 cash prizes, sweat shirts, caps, etc.
