TRUCK DRIVER PLEADS NO CONTEST IN FATALITY - October, 2000 Accident Claimed Morgantown Woman's Life

(08/23/2001)
A truck driver has pleaded no contest to charges he caused a fatal accident while driving drunk. Dorsie Eugene Blosser, 41 of Stout's Mills was scheduled to stand trial Tuesday, August 21, before Monongalia County Circuit Court Judge Russell M. Clawges, Jr. Instead, he pleaded no contest to driving under the influence causing death and third or subsequent offense DUI.

A no contest plea means Blosser does not admit guilt, but he concedes the state could have enough evidence to prove the charges.

Prosecutors say the Gilmer County man was drunk when his 40-ton well-servicing truck, owned by Key Energy flipped and crushed a sport utility vehicle on October 11, 2000 on US 119 at Morgantown.

The SUV's driver, Brenda Sue Garden, 31 of Morgantown, was killed. A state investigation found that Blosser's truck was 9900 pounds overweight and had bad brakes. A sentencing date has not been set.
