ROANE COUPLE HAVE DRUG CASES CONTINUED - 2.4 Million Dollar Marijuana Bust

(08/23/2001)
Brenda Hill, 44, of Roane County had her magistrate case continued, after appearing before Magistrate Denver Gandee, Jr. August 17.

Ms. Hill and her partner, James Osborne were arrested after the Roane Sheriff's Department and the Roane County Detachment of the State Police harvested 1,172 marijuana plants, growing on their property. The couple resided at the Peter Cave area, off Barcut Road in Roane County.

Mr. Osborne, also age 44, has had his case continued to Circuit Court. The patches were found after a search stemming from a tip, coming from Boone County to Sheriff Todd Cole's office. The Spencer State Police Detachment had also received the same tip, according to Cole.

The couple have been charged with manufacturing a controlled substance. They were arraigned by Magistrate Gandee on August 7, in what might have been the largest marijuana bust in Roane County history.

The value of the harvest was estimated at 2.4 million dollars.
