CRESTON MOBILE HOME TOTAL LOSS AFTER FIRE

"The structure was fully engulfed when we arrived, said Elizabeth Fire Chief Doug Hill. The mobile home belonged to Frank and Pat Smith of Creston. They lost everything. The Elizabeth-Wirt VFD answered the call about 8 p.m., sending three units and a dozen firemen. They were still on the scene at 10 p.m. The dwelling was located on a hillside about one-eighth mile from the old Creston Store. The Grantsville VFD was summoned for mutual assistance, sending a pumper and a tanker. Steve Parsons and Sam Dawson of the Wirt County Division of Highways were diverted from their routine snow and ice duties to cinder a hill for the Elizabeth-Wirt and Grantsville Volunteer Fire Departments last night (Photo by John Griffin)
