GOVERNOR GIVES DR. HANDE SPECIAL RECOGNITION

Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center, Inc. is pleased to announce that Dr. Vishwanath Hande has been recognized for his exemplary service to health care in Calhoun County.

Dot Underwood, Regional Representative for Governor Joe Manchin III, presented Dr. Hande with a Certificate of Recognition at a ceremony held yesterday.

The certificate stated, "Presented to Dr. Vishwanath Hande for providing outstanding medical services to the patients at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center, Inc. We honor Dr. Hande for his commitment to the people of Calhoun County and surrounding areas." It was signed by Governor Joe Manchin III.

Dr. Hande was nominated for this award by Barbara Lay, CEO. At the beginning of the ceremony, Ms. Lay shared of Dr. Hande's impact on the community, effecting over 1,000 lives while bringing stability and personal care to the health system in Calhoun County.

Dr. Hande was very humbled to receive this award. He spoke of the difficulties of being a physician, especially in a rural area.

"Today is one moment I really feel it's worth it. Minnie Hamilton has grown phenomenally through the years. We have moved forward as a team, continually adding services. The best part is looking forward to many more years to come," he said.

Dr. Hande received his medical degree from Madras Medical College in Madras, India with a specialty in Internal Medicine. After medical school, Dr. Hande served his residencies at Government General Hospital, Madras, India, at Presbyterian Medical Center and Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Hande is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. He has been employed at MHHCC since July 1996 and is the Chief of Medical Staff.
