Wanza Gainer Marsh, 79 - Grantsville

Wanza Gainer Marsh, 79, of Grantsville, West Virginia, died January 22, 2007 at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center, Grantsville. She was born near Grantsville, a daughter of the late Cleo and Phelma Hathaway Gainer. She was very active in her community and church, a correspondent for the Calhoun Chronicle, and a secretary for Calhoun Homes, Inc. for many years. She retired June 1, 1990 from BF Goodrich, as Stockroom Supervisor. She graduated from Calhoun High School in 1944, and attended Glenville State College. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, for years, then Mt. Zion United Methodist Church to present. Surviving are her daughters, Deborah Marsh of Davisville, WV and Marsha Marsh of Simpsonville, SC; one sister, Emma Gainer Wease; and brother, Delbert "Bo" Gainer, all of Grantsville; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vilas C. Marsh; two sisters, Delma Gainer Whytsell, and Greta Gainer Marks; and a brother, Jennings "Buck" Gainer. Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, January 25 at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville with Rev. Rick Swearingen officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul Cemetery, on Pine Creek near Mt. Zion. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 24 at the funeral home.
