SMITHVILLE MAN DIES AFTER ACCIDENT - Funeral Scheduled Sunday

Funeral services for twenty-two-year-old Derrick R. Elliott of Smithville are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Raiguel Funeral Home in Harrisville. Burial will be in the Ayers Cemetery. Visitation 4-8 p.m. today and 11 to 2 p.m. Sunday.

Elliott died Thursday after suffering injuries in a two vehicle collision Tuesday on Rt. 47 in which a Vienna man was killed.

Police are using an event data recorder to determine causes leading to the accident, technology now implanted in about one-half of all newer vehicles.

Eliott was born Oct. 22, 1984, in Parkersburg. He was employed by Greenpak Inc., Parkersburg, as a fork lift operator and was a member of Macfarlan Community Church.

He is survived by his parents, Danny and Peggy Elliott; sister, Melissa Elliott, all of Smithville; girlfriend, Kristen Robinson of Glenville; and paternal grandparents, Ray and Helen Elliott of Smithville.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Clarence Dobbins and Barbara Carpenter.
