GUNMAN FIRES SHOT INTO I-77 TRAFFIC

(01/19/2007)
Police are looking for the person responsible for firing a gunshot into traffic on Interstate 77 early Thursday morning in Parkersburg.

Wood County Sheriff's Department says the incident happened just after midnight Thursday when passengers in a Coldwater Creek company vehicle say they heard a crack and thump on the passengers side of their van.

When the driver pulled over, he found a bullet hole through the outer skin of the door.

Police say they do not believe the shot was intentionally fired at anyone inside the vehicle, but the gunshot was deliberate.

The Wood county Sheriffs Department has recovered the bullet and is investigating.

No one was hurt.
