COMMISSION SETS EIGHT MEETINGS FOR TAX COMPLAINTS

(02/01/2007)
February is the month the Calhoun Commission sits as a Board of Equalization and Review.

Upon request, they will review taxes and examine the property books presented by the Assessor.

Not making inquiry about taxes during February before the commission, rights are waived to file complaint later in the year, except to appeal before the Circuit Court.

Eight sessions are scheduled.

The Feb. 12 meeting has been designated to hear problems regarding oil and gas assessments. County Commissions can no longer rule on such assessments, they are handled in Charleston. Complaints regarding oil and gas should first be addressed by calling Assessor Jason Nettles at 304-354-6958 to make sure a State Tax Department file is obtained for the meeting.

Feb. 1, 5, 8 from 9-10 a.m.

Feb. 12 from 10-11 a.m.

Feb. 15, 21, 26, 28 from 9-10 a.m.
