(01/03/2007)
A Gilmer County man has been identified as the victim of a New Year's accident.

Terry Risley, 56, from Glenville was killed about 3 a.m. Monday on a stretch of I-79 in Roane County, the victim of a one-vehicle accident at the 21 mile marker.

Risley was taking his grandchildren home from holiday visiting.

Authorities said he was driving a pickup truck towing farm equipment. It crossed the center median and crashed, killing the man.

A 10-year-old child inside the truck was taken to CAMC General with multiple fractures.

Risley's wife and grandkids were driving in a separate car behind him and were not involved in the wreck. The family was on their way to Illinois. The cause of the wreck is under investigation.
