ROANE COMMITTEE ON AGING GETS $10,000 GRANT

(12/29/2006)
State Director Robert M. Steptoe, III has announced that Rural Development has approved a Community Facilities Grant of $10,000 for Roane County Committee on Aging, Inc. in Spencer.

Rural Development funds will be used to cover a cost over-run for the construction of a 20' X 30' addition to the Reedy Senior Center. This will complete a Rural Development funding package of $44,000.

"Community facilities--such as health care clinics, senior citizen centers, police and fire stations, schools and child care centers- are essential to the quality of life in any rural community. Through the Community Facilities Loans and Grants Program, Rural Development is striving to ensure that such facilities are readily available to all rural West Virginians," remarked Steptoe.

Rural Development serves as the lead Federal entity for rural development needs and administers program assistance through its housing programs, business programs, and utilities programs.
