FAMILY ESCAPES FROM EARLY MORNING FIRE

A man, his wife and five-year-old son escaped from their burning mobile home early today near the Gilmer-Calhoun County line.

Robert McKinstry said his wife Ryan was awakened by the smell of smoke, at which time the trio left the dwelling, the fire spread quickly.

The Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the 4:14 a.m. call off Trace Fork in a narrow Gilmer County hollow.

The mobile home was almost completely destroyed, the family lost all their possessions.

Calhoun EMS and the Glenville-Gilmer County VFD also responded.

A report said McKinstry received very minor burns when he went back into the mobile home. He was evaluated by Calhoun EMS.
