Eve Reed receives trauma care in middle of Route 5

Two women appeared to have been thrown from a car in a roll-over accident on Route 5, one and one-half miles west of Grantsville early Thursday morning. The driver of the 1993 Chevy was identified as Eve Reed of Rt. 1, Grantsville. She was positioned on the asphalt about 65 feet from the car, which landed on its top in the ditch.

The passenger in the vehicle was tentatively identified as Stacey Frederick. Frederick was found in a ditch about 50 feet from the wrecked vehicle. The car was traveling west on State Route 5 when the accident happened about 12:36 a.m.

Calhoun EMS medics and EMT's administered trauma care to the women before they were transported to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center, and HealthNet had been placed on alert for possible transport to Charleston Area Medical Center for one of the victims. The Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department quickly dispatched two units to the scene.
