HIGH-RANKED LADY PIONEERS SUFFER FIRST LOSS

Honolulu, Hawaii - Previously unbeaten and 6th ranked Glenville State placed three players in double figures, led by Casey Taylor's 28 points, but it was not enough as Minnesota State Moorhead gained the 72-71 overtime victory in the Hoop-N-Surf Classic.

The Lady Pioneers rallied from a 12 point second half deficit to tie the score at 66 with a lay up by freshman Melanie Oliver with 24 seconds remaining in regulation. The Pioneers attempt at winning the game in regulation was not to be as a Rachel Redick jumper missed the mark with :01 remaining.

In overtime, the Lady Pioneers quickly grabbed the lead and led until the Dragon's Katie Walden drained a three with 1:12 remaining. The Dragons converted three free throws in the last 16 seconds to seal the victory.

In addition to Taylor's 28 points, Rachel Redick chipped in with 16, while Melanie Oliver added 10. Christy Alltop contributed 9 points on three 3's and was pivotal in the Lady Pioneers late second half charge.

Glenville State forced MSU-M into 27 turnovers, but were out rebounded 50-32 and shot a cool 36% from the floor.

Pioneers will next play #5 ranked Washburn University on Wednesday at 6:00pm (Hawaii time).
