Attention all parents of children in Calhoun County Schools! Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center, Inc. would like to remind you that the School Based Health Center (SBHC) is there for you. Currently, the SBHC is housed at Arnoldsburg Elementary, Pleasant Hill Elementary and Calhoun County Middle/High School.

The staff members at the SBHC welcome all students, teachers and service personnel. The SBHC is full-service and allows your child to stay in school and receive medical care. Medical treatments at the SBHC are provided by Donna Shanholtzer, C-FNP and Sandy Fowler, RN.

Services offered include: health care for illnesses, physical examinations, sports physicals, immunizations and allergy shots, lab tests, vision and hearing screenings, health education and prevention, mental health referrals and Well Child Check.

Dr. Lynn Gilbert, DDS and Dental Assistant Bobbi Moss provide dental work at the CCM/HS site every other Tuesday from 8:00-11:30 a.m. Services offered include: exams, cleanings, sealants, restorations, fillings and extractions.

An exciting addition to the SBHC has been Andy Nicholas, School Based Behavioral Health Counselor. Andy is at CCM/HS on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. With the nearest mental healthcare provider being out of county, Andy's services are a great asset to Calhoun County. Andy offers behavioral health assessments, individual counseling, case management and referrals to school and community resources.

To be served at the SBHC, a student must be enrolled and have a signed parental consent form. Younger siblings who are enrolled in Head Start, Pre-School or either elementary school can be seen at the CCM/HS site if brought to the site by a parent or guardian. All school personnel including teachers, administration and service personnel are eligible to be seen at the SBHC.

So, when is the SBHC open at your school?
