A 65-year-old Roane County man who went out to burn some debris was found dead early today under his ATV.

The death of Larry Jett of Looneyville brings the 2006 ATV death toll to a record 53.

Family members told authorities that Jett left on the ATV Wednesday afternoon to burn some debris on his property.

After he didn't return home last night, volunteer firefighters were called to help in a search and rescue mission.

Authorities said it appears Jett's ATV flipped on him and pushed him into the fire.

The body has been taken to the State Medical Examiner's office.
