TOWN OF GRANTSVILLE SEEKING 10-YEAR LEASE FOR OFFICES

(12/13/2006)
The Town of Grantsville is looking at obtaining a 10-year-lease to use office space in the Calhoun courthouse annex, known as the old jail building.

Mayor Wilbert Kerby made the request Monday, with county commissioners indicating they are amiable to sign such a lease.

The Commission agreed to let the town use the office space after the old town hall was declared unsafe, and later torn down.

The town agreed to trade-off the costs of water, sewage and trash to the courthouse as a contribution for their use of the building.

The county still pays the gas and electric.

Kerby said the town might want a little extra space in the annex for storage.

The commission advised Kerby to prepare a lease agreement.
