BILLY RAY HARDWAY WILL SEEK MEDICAL TREATMENT

(12/13/2006)
The state has reduced the bond of Billy Ray Hardway to $5,000. Hardway has been in Central Regional Jail on a charge of possession of a firearm by a felon.

It was revealed in Calhoun Circuit Court this week that Hardway is suffering from cancer and will likely be seeking treatment.

Hardway will receive a psychological evaluation and will be placed on home monitoring.

This summer, the Daniel's Run man was shot in the shoulder by DNR officer John Apgar, while Apgar was attempting to serve Hardway a warrant. Apgar told authorities Hardway was resisting, hiding behind a door, allegedly reaching for a knife.

Judge David Nibert presided over Calhoun Circuit Court Monday.

Sentencing for Gary Lee Nicholson was continued until next week.

Mark Higgs plead guilty to one count of failure to register, with sentencing to follow.
