PEOPLE MISSING IN ROANE COUNTY FIRE - One Dead In Roane Collision

2:45 AM - The Spencer-Roane VFD responded to a structure fire on Clay Road (Rt. 36 just south of Spencer) this morning, a house "fully engulfed" with "possible entrapment."

One person was confirmed dead, although it was reported "two people are missing."

A firemen on scene said two people were not accounted for and the State Fire Marshal's office was responding to the scene.

Roane's 911 reported a first call from a party, hearing smoke detectors in the background, followed by a disconnect.

A short time later, a neighbor to the residence called to report the fire was out-of-control.

Firemen were advised they could not get fire trucks across the creek to the residence, via a bridge.

Firemen were getting water on the fire, shuttling tankers, and at 3:10 a.m. reported "nothing was left of a section of the house."

The SRVFD and Roane County Emergency Squad responded to this two-car collision on Rt. 36 near the intersection of Charles Fork Rd. yesterday afternoon at 2:30 p.m., with two ambulances transporting victims to the hospital.

One female fatality has been reported. The victims name is being withheld pending notification of family. The body has been taken to the State Medical Examiner's office.

The Grantsville VFD responded to a chimney fire Saturday night on Vaughan Road, with no damage reported.
