CALHOUN DEER KILL SLIGHTLY OFF

While Calhoun's deer kill was down the first day, it seemed to be catching up as the week went along.

Ray Holbert of Holbert's Store at Big Bend says it may be slightly down, reporting 159 total at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Holbert said Derek Roberts of Mt. Zion checked the biggest buck, 13-points, with a dozen or more 10-pointers turned in.

Cha-Tis in Grantsville reported 109 total by 4 p.m. Wednesday, with local funeral director John Stump with the big buck, a 13-pointer. Matt Tanner of Mt. Pleasant NC checked an 11-point, and Cameron Sampson was one of several hunters, checking a 10-pointer.

Parson's One Stop at Pleasant Hill said the kill was "about the same as last year," with at least four 10-pointers being checked, including John Gumm, Robert Vannoy and Judy Yost. Checking in 9-pointers, Ron Hosey, Ed Eisley, Gary Wager and Randy Robinson.

The Pit Stop reported a total of 84 the first three days.

Speedy Mart reported 142 total at 4 p.m.

Five Forks General Store at Five Forks and Nellys at Minnora, no report.
