COACH HERSMAN THANKS VOLLEYBALL SUPPORTERS - McKown Named To All-State Tournament Team

While Calhoun was defeated on Friday by Greater Beckley Christian at the State Volleyball Tournament in Charleston, player Courtney McKown was selected to the All State Tournament Team.

Courtney is a CHS senior, the daughter of Wendell and Chris McKown.

"Congratulations to the Red Devils for making the state tournament for the first time in the school's history of any girls sports," said coach Angie Hersman.

The tournament scores: 25-19, 21-25 won, 25-15, 25-22.

Dani Church 12 (103 sets, 1 kill, 1 block), Courtney McKown 15 (3 aces, 23 kills, 6 blocks), Tessa Batten 13 (8 kills, 2 aces), Caytee Prusack 11 (6 kills, 2 aces), Kayla Hixon 18 (4 aces, 4 kills), Melissa Jarvis 11 (1 ace). Hersman said she would like to thank the girls, all of their parents, the loyal fans, all of the businesses and individuals that donated money for the new uniforms at the beginning of season, for the hotel rooms for the girls to stay in during the tournament.

"I can't name them all, you will never be forgotten for your generosity," Hersman said.
