CAPITO WINS BY NARROW MARGIN

(11/08/2006)
Former US Attorney Mike Callaghan (D) went to defeat in his attempt to beat Congresswoman Shelly Moore Capito (R).

Capito won the election by a narrow margin, about eight percent.

Callaghan hoped national dissatisfaction with President Bush would turn voters against Capito.

Unlike many GOP candidates, Capito did not try to distance herself from president Bush, counting on a voter base that supported Bush in 2000 and 2004.
