Russell S. Schoolcraft, 90 - Spencer

Russell S. Schoolcraft, 90, of Spencer, West Virginia, died Sunday, November 5, 2006, in the Roane General Hospital, Spencer, after an extended illness.

He was born May 23, 1916, at Walton, a son of the late Madison and Elma Garst Schoolcraft. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

Russell was a retired mail carrier and farmer. He was a former employee of Goodyear Tire, Charleston and the Ordnance Plant, South Charleston. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post 21, Spencer.

Survivors include his wife, Freda K. Harper Schoolcraft, whom he married August 7, 1943; daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and "Sonny" Truman of Spencer, Wanda and Scott Walden of Georgetown, TX, Karen and John Hedges of Morgantown, Terie and Keith McDuffie of Sadieville, KY, Jerie and Randell Truman of Charleston; son and daughter-in-law, Russell Schoolcraft, Jr. and Brenda Webb of Clover; brother, Raymond Schoolcraft of Walton; sisters, Rosa Casto of Clendenin and Vesta Feazelle of Dunbar; 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, November 7 at 11:00 a.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Daniel R. "Danny" Whited officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 6:00 p.m. Monday.
