CLAY NATIVE SUSPECT IN MURDER OF WIFE AND DAUGHTER

(10/25/2006)
A WV correctional officer who is a prime suspect in the murder of his wife and daughter in Kanawha County, is a native of Clay County. He was a 1989 graduate of Clay High School.

Police have arrested 38-year-old Stanley Eugene Pierson. The suspect allegedly used a large hand tool to beat them to death. The victims have been identified as Lisa Pierson, 39, his wife, and her daughter, Casey Barker, 20.

The murders took place at their Campbell's Creek residence.

Lisa Lynn Pierson made a prediction to a friend just days before her death, saying "You'll be coming to my funeral."

Pierson had returned home from his shift as a Division of Corrections officer at the Charleston Work Release Center. He then drove two miles to the West Virginia Turnpike Yeager Bridge where he parked his vehicle and jumped off the span into the Kanawha River.

Police discovered him along the riverbank.

Pierson began as an officer at Mount Olive, the state's maximum-security prison, then moved to the work release center seven years ago.
