GRANTSVILLE YOUTH INJURED IN ROLL-OVER

(10/17/2006)

A Grantsville youth was extracted from under
his truck after it rolled-over on Beech Road

Seventeen-year-old Lucas Morford of Grantsville was injured Monday night when his Chevy truck went out of control, struck the road bank and reportedly rolled over twice, landing on its side in the middle of the road.

Morford was reportedly pinned under the truck and was extracted by individuals at the scene.

Morford, a senior at CM-HS, is a junior member of the Grantsville VFD and a junior volunteer with Calhoun EMS.

Calhoun EMS requested HealthNet, which could not fly because of bad weather. Morford was taken to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center, suffering from multiple injuries.

There were three passengers in the truck. At least one female teenager, one of two sisters, was taken to the hospital. A male passenger was reportedly uninjured.

The accident happened at the intersection of Beech and Pink Road, about three miles from Liberty Hill, US 33-119.

The Arnoldsburg VFD and EMS responded to the call at 9:47 p.m.

Deputy Craig Gherke is investigating.
