MINNIE HAMILTON SEEKING FUNDS FOR REPAIRS - New 911 Tower Under Construction

Barb Lay, Minnie Hamilton CEO appeared before the commission regarding the health care provider's efforts to borrow money through a bond to make repairs to the facility.

"Many of the building's needs are long overdue to be upgraded and repaired," said Lay.

The bond sale is being approved by the commission and will not affect county taxpayers. It will be discussed before the County Building Commission, followed by a public hearing to be held on November 9th at 9 a.m.

Elected officials and employee handbook committee members will be meeting three times during the next few months to revise the handbook and present it to the commission.

A resolution regarding courthouse improvements, including new lighting and doors, was passed. The grant application for a walking trail at the Upper West Fork Park was discussed, in addition to an enhancement grant for new steps to the courthouse. The grant for an elevator for the courthouse has been submitted.

The new 180 foot tower at Calhoun's new 911 Center is under construction and new equipment is expected to be arriving by November.

The commission appointed Grantsville resident Bob Groves as the county humane officer for animal control.

Commissioner Weaver was to attended the Blue-Gray Highway meeting in Spencer yesterday.

Remodeling is now being done on the Khoury building for use by the Family Court.

Dawn Fox was appointed to the EMS Board.

The next commission meeting is November 13.
