WV KNIFE AND GUN CLUB

(10/12/2006)
STUDENT SHOT - A Musselman High School student was accidentally shot after another student mistook a 22-caliber pistol for a toy.

Police said the shooting happened Sunday morning at a residence in south Berkeley County.

Authorities said both the shooter and victim are boys born in 1992.

The two freshman were staying at the house for a sleep over the night before.

Authorities said the shooter fired two rounds into the floor before pointing and firing the gun near the victim's head. The victim was "relaxing" on the floor at the time.

A bullet entered the area behind the student's ear, lodging around the jaw and tongue area.

He is expected to make a full recovery, although the bullet couldn't be removed.

No charges are expected to be filed.

NOT GUNS, NOT KNIVES, BUT A CLUB - A Harrison County man is facing a murder charge stemming from a fight that left one person dead and two others injured.

Lloyd Edward Dodd, 21, of Reynoldsville, is accused of hitting 21-year-old Seneca Garrett of Lumberport in the head with a club. Garrett died from the injury.

Alex Weaver of Clarksburg and A. J. Gelpi of Salem were also injured, treated and released.

Police also charged another man, 24-year-old John Edward Powers of Reynoldsville, with malicious wounding.

Police indicated the fight started over a vehicle being damaged.
