SEARCH FOR MISSING ATV RIDER ENDS

(10/10/2006)
After all-night searching by three rescue teams and area firefighters, a missing Clay County woman who disappeared on an ATV, turned up Monday morning at her sister's home in North Charleston.

Audrey Koch of Ovapa, in her mid 40s, was riding with a friend near the Clay-Kanawha line when she allegedly drove off.

Koch's sister apparently phoned police early Monday, saying she had spent the night with her.

The riding friend told authorities the two were riding ATVs when Koch broke away and drove over a hill about 2 p.m. Sunday.

He reportedly went back to his Leatherwood residence and called police when she didn't return.

The Charleston Daily Mail reported rescue teams searched the area from about 9:30 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday and were expected to resume the search at daybreak.

Kanawha deputies are interviewing Koch to find out what led to the situation. She reportedly told police she ran from her ATV and called her sister to come and get her.
