FRIENDS OF MINNIE HAMILTON RECOGNIZED FOR SERVICE

Barbara Lay, CEO of Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center and department supervisors hosted a reception for the Friends of Minnie Hamilton Auxiliary September 7, 2006.

Many of the supervisors expressed appreciation for the contributions made to their departments by the Friends of Minnie Hamilton.

Mrs. Lay installed new officers for 2006-2008, they are, Carol Sloane, President; Carolyn Collins, Vice President; Darrel Hashman, Secretary; and Patricia Radabaugh, Treasurer.

Active members were recognized for their years of service to Calhoun General Hospital Auxiliary, as well as Friends of Minnie Hamilton. Serving 45 years are Freda Yoak, Margaret Cunningham, Delma Kemper, Pearle Johnson, and Mary Louise Smith; Darrel and Phylis Hashman, and Pat Radabaugh have each served 10 years; Paula Roberts and Carolyn Collins have served 6 years; and Carol Sloane has 2 years service to the Auxiliary. Each member was presented a yellow rose.

Friends of Minnie Hamilton is a group who provide support to MHHCC, its patients and staff. The Friends have 18 active and 51 inactive members.

During the past year the the Auxiliary has donated over 150 stuffed animals for children who are treated in the Emergency Room. The Auxiliary purchases many items for use in several departments throughout the facility.

The Long Term Care Unit is a special project for the group. They have donated $400 for Bingo prizes and given $600 toward Christmas gifts for the residents.

The Auxiliary donated a total of approximately $7,930.29 to purchased or committed items for the various departments. Auxiliary funds are realized through group dues, the annual Dove Tree, vending machines, and memorials.

In addition to monetary donations the group has donated 4,853 volunteer hours to the benefit of MHHCC.

As a group they are active in the Blood Mobile, Breast Cancer, Awareness, the Long Term Care Unit, Memorial Service and other activities as needed.

The Auxiliary's future plan is to continue helping in any way they can be of service.

The next meeting of Friends of Minnie Hamilton Auxiliary will be 10 a.m. Thursday, October 5 in the conference room at MHHCC. Anyone wishing to join the Auxiliary is welcome to attend the meeting.
