Equitable Resources is attempting to purchase Dominion Hope Gas Company, affecting thousands of WV customers. Opponents of the sale say that Equitable will be buying up one of its largest competitors -Dominion Hope Gas, thus effectively stifling competition and will force Dominion Hope Gas consumers to become consumers of Equitable against their will.

If the sale is approved, Equitable will become the 2nd largest natural gas distribution company in West Virginia.

Natural gas prices are already reaching all time highs. With Dominion Hope Gas out of the picture, Equitable will likely be free to set the price of natural gas it sees fit.

Equitable Resources C.E.O. made $50 million dollars last year. That's sure to increase, with Hope Gas consumers helping to pay the tab.

Opponents say "While you may not have any direct control on the sky rocketing price of gasoline or health care, you can have a direct effect on this proposed sale and the consequences it would have on you and your family."

The big losers, once more, could be the consumers.
