Olandus Coleman Smith, 91 - Macfarlan

Olandus Coleman Smith, 91, of Macfarlan, W.Va., died Sept. 16, 2006, at Riverside Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.

He was born Sept. 8, 1915, in Hartley, W.Va., the son of the late Oren Oako and Jessie Craft Smith.

Mr. Smith was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Labor Union 1085, Parkersburg, last working for Evans Construction Co., Mineral Wells, and was the former owner and operator of Smitty's Service and Sporting Goods, Macfarlan. He was a member of Cairo Lodge 114 AF&AM, Nemesis Shriners of Parkersburg and Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, Parkersburg.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Nannie McCoy Smith; one daughter, Diana M. and Bud Jackson of St. Marys; one son, Richard C. and Sue Lewis of Davisville; son-in-law, Jim Knotts of Mineral Wells; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Smith of Mineral Wells; seven grandchildren, Robbie Evans, Cindy Lemon, Kimberly McClead, Aleacia Peer, Jimmy Smith, Saebra Pauley and Straude Lewis; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three children, Olandus "Buddy" Smith, Robert E. Smith and Linda K. Knotts; four brothers, H. Blaine Smith, Raymond Smith, Oren Smith Jr. and William F. Smith; two half-brothers; two half-sisters; and son-in-law, Dallas Evans.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with Pastor Myron Guiler officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Baptist Cemetery, Lubeck. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
