Both Calhoun Middle Volleyball "A" and "B" teams picked up match victories in two game sweeps against visiting Wirt County Middle School Monday evening.
The "B" team beat Wirt 25-9 and 25-14. Kenzie Laughin lead the "B" team with 17 points, 11 aces. Katie Collins had 8 points, 3 aces; Samantha Fulks 7 points, 1 ace; Kelcey Bourne 1 point, 1 ace; and Brook Green 1 point, 1 ace. Setting for the "B" team Samantha Fulks was 3/3 and Brook Green was 2/2. Kayla Cottrell was 2/2 from the attack line. The "B" team improved their match record to 1-2.
Calhoun "A" bested Wirt 25-23 and 25-17. Rochelle Gerwig lead the "A" team with 8 points, 7 aces. Savannah Church added 6 points, 4 aces; Ashley Houchin 5 points, 2 aces; Amber Wilford 5 points, 1 ace; Jordan Mace 4 points, 1 ace; and Michelle Hall 1 point, 1 ace.
Savannah Church was 14/17 setting and Amber Wilford was 9/10. From the attack line, Ashley Houchin was 8/10 with 1 kill; Karissa Reip was 3/6 with 1 kill; Jordan Mace was 2/4 with 1 kill; Michelle Hall was 4/5.
With the win, Calhoun "A" remains unbeaten on the season with a 4-0 record. Calhoun hosts Ritchie Tuesday evening and Gilmer on Thursday evening. "B" team games begin at 6 p.m. |
