CMS VOLLEYBALL SPLITS WITH BRAXTON

Submitted by Kelley Houchin The Calhoun Middle School Volleyball team hosted Braxton Middle on Thursday, September 14. The B team lost the match in two close games 23-25 and 24-26. Katie Collins lead the B team with 12 points, 2 aces. She was followed by Kenzie Laughin with 6 points, 1 ace; Kayla Cottrell 3 points, 1 ace; MaKayla Johnson 2 points, Samantha Fulks 1 point, and Kelcey Bourne 1 point. Samantha Fulks was 5/7 setting and Katie Collins was 3/3. From the attack line Kayla Cottrell was 3/3 with 1 kill and Kenzie Laughin was 2/2. The A team swept Braxton 25-16 and 25-13 to win the match. Ashley Houchin lead the A team with 16 points and 6 aces. Savannah Church had 7 points, 3 aces; Rochelle Gerwig 5 points, 1 ace; Jordan Mace 4 points, Michelle Hall 2 points, 1 ace; and Amber Wilford 2 points. Savannah Church was 8/9 setting and Amber Wilford was 8/8. Ashley Houchin was 3/4 from the attack line with 3 kills, Karissa Reip was 3/3 with 1 kill, Jordan Mace was 2/4 with 1 kill and Michelle Hall was 2/3. The CMS team entertains Wirt at home Monday, Ritchie at home on Tuesday and Gilmer at home on Thursday. B team play begins at 6 p.m.
