MALONE CRITICALLY INJURED BY SHOTGUN BLAST - Wood County Man Being Charged

A Wirt County woman was seriously injured early yesterday morning when she was wounded in the chest by a shotgun blast as she was leaving her workplace. Sandra Malone was in critical condition in Camden-Clark Hospital after Norman Evans, 63, of Portland, apparently shot the woman in the parking lot of Winans Services on 29th Street. Wirt County Deputy Sheriff L. J. Peck transported the woman's husband, Arlie Malone, to the hospital to her bedside. After a high-speed 90-mph chase on Route 14 on Grand Central Avenue. police arrested Evans after he threw the shotgun from the moving vehicle.
