DR. MURPHY BRINGS SPECIAL SKILLS TO MINNIE HAMILTON

Jonathan B. Murphy, M.D. and Deborah Murphy, PA-C

Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center, Inc would like you to get to know Dr. Jonathan B. Murphy, M.D. After one conversation with Dr. Murphy, you will feel like you have been friends for years.

Dr. Murphy was born and raised in Grafton, WV. After high school, he attended the United States Naval Academy for two years. He completed his undergraduate education at West Virginia University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. He attended medical school at WVU and completed his residency in Charleston, WV. Dr. Murphy specializes in three fields including pediatrics, internal medicine and holistic medicine.

Dr. Murphy believes that by combining traditional and holistic health care, patients can avoid excessive drug treatments. As a pediatrician, Dr. Murphy's practice has been to advocate preventive measures, such as nutritious meals and snacks and exercise for children, starting at an early age. By developing these habits early, children will more likely grow into healthy, active adults.

Dr. Murphy explains holistic medicine as "looking at the whole picture." Holistic medicine looks at all the factors surrounding an individual's every day care including: physical, nutritional, environmental, emotional, social, spiritual and the individuals lifestyle values. Holistic medicine focuses on education and responsibility for personal efforts to achieve balance and well being.

Dr. Murphy sees patients at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center once a week, generally on Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., though times may vary.

Dr. Murphy is married to Deborah Murphy, PA-C, who also works part-time at MHHCC. Deborah Murphy received her Bachelor of Science Degree as a Physician Assistant from the College of West Virginia in Beckley.

The Murphy's enjoy camping, skiing, and supporting the West Virginia Mountaineers. For an appointment with Dr. Murphy or Deborah Murphy, please call 354-9244.
